The Cost of Inconsistencysubmitted by JASON R. - |Recommended: YesThere are a number of things The Berkeley does well and unfortunately an offsetting amount of things done poorly. First off, we have had FOUR different management companies since we moved in May 2018 . This means that setting up auto-payments for rent utilities is near impossible because as soon as it is set up and out of mind, you have to redo the entire process when the complex gets sold. Secondly, the community areas seem to be the last priority to management. The community hot tub was functional for about a month in the summer, and since then has remained uncleaned and left to disarray. Third, if you get home from work later than 10 pm on a weekday and you don't pay for a reserved parking space, you're most likely going to have to park across the street. Furthermore, my roommates and I have felt an overall lack of security within the complex. Someone left their car running for 2 minutes while they ran inside to get their wallet and their car got stolen. Install security cameras or flood lights at the very least. Lastly and my personal grudge, THIS COMPLEX DOES NOT ACCEPT PACKAGES. That's right, if you miss the delivery man, you have to go pick it up at the nearest FedEx USPS office. One last short note, the metal staircases get completely covered in ice after a snowy night, which is a lawsuit waiting to happen. There are things that the Berkeley does particularly well. First, their maintenance staff is wonderful, they have fixed a number of issues in our unit within a day or two of placing a work order. There are community grills to make up for the fact that no gas grills are allowed on the decks of the condos. Very rarely do I hear my neighbors and I have never received a noise complaint considering we often play fairly loud music this is impressive . The Berkeley is also pet friendly, this doesn't apply to our particular unit but it's nice to see so many dogs around. Overall, for the price of The Berkeley, it's a nice place to live. You will find higher quality interiors in these units than you would renting any of the surrounding houses in the neighborhood. My roommates and I are all students at Regis University and the commute is not bad at all although walking to the Regis nightlife is not really an option .
